Adega Regional de Colares

Colares

  • Growers united facing the Atlantic: Since 1931, the Colares cooperative has brought together its members’ grapes and maintained this coastal viticulture. “Arenae Ramisco” comes from Ramisco grown in sand, less than one kilometre from the Atlantic.
  • A red that softens with time: “Arenae Ramisco” offers sour cherry and cedar resin, with pronounced tannins and sustained acidity. Its firm youthful texture softens with age: introduce this Colares for its character and development, not immediate roundness.

Quinta da Romeira

Lisboa

  • Arinto at the centre of Bucelas: Quinta da Romeira is devoted to white wines, and Prova Régia is made solely from Arinto under Bucelas DOC. The house describes early bottling as a way to preserve the wine’s aromatic intensity and freshness.
  • Prova Régia Branco 2022: Citrus and white flowers accompany a fresh, structured palate and a mouthwatering finish.
  • A visitor from the Peninsular War: The Duke of Wellington passed through Quinta da Romeira during the French invasions. This episode belongs to the history of the Bucelas estate behind Prova Régia.

Quinta das Cerejeiras / Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal

Lisboa

  • An Óbidos blend from Bombarral: Quinta das Cerejeiras Grande Reserva Tinto 2019 brings Castelão, Touriga Nacional and Aragonez together under Óbidos DOC. It bears the name of the Bombarral property within Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal.
  • The 2019 in the glass: Cherry jam and vanilla accompany Quinta das Cerejeiras Grande Reserva Tinto 2019. The palate is broad, supple and velvety.
  • The founder’s house and old cellar: The property preserves the home of company founder Abel Pereira da Fonseca and the cellar’s old large casks. These surviving buildings and vessels connect the present estate to its history.

Quinta de Chocapalha

Lisboa

  • A family estate to rebuild: In 1987, Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva chose Chocapalha for their family project. The property required substantial restoration; their daughter Sandra continues its story through winemaking, notably with the white “CH by Chocapalha”.
  • Arinto gains volume: “CH by Chocapalha” Branco ferments in casks, then spends nine months on its lees, which are regularly stirred. Arinto’s citrus and sustained acidity are thus accompanied by broad substance, in a Lisboa white also conceived for ageing.
Defining estates and collectives

Villa Oeiras

Lisboa

  • A town saves its wine: Villa Oeiras was born from the municipality’s work to preserve Carcavelos. In cellars associated with the Marquis of Pombal’s former estate, this fortified wine continues to age and keep local heritage alive.
  • Fifteen years of patience: “Superior 15 Anos” blends Arinto, Galego Dourado and Ratinho, matured at length in wood. The fifteen years are an indication of the blend’s age; they do not correspond to a single harvest.
  • Between bitter orange and hazelnut: “Superior 15 Anos”: dried apricot, bitter orange and hazelnut, with spicy sweetness supported by elegant acidity.
