Place & climate

  • Location: The coastal heartland around Cambados, between the Arousa and Pontevedra rías.
  • Climate: Low-lying sites have especially cool, damp maritime conditions.
  • Soils & relief: Granite-derived sandy soils are a useful reference; lowlands and gently rolling land dominate.

Grapes & label

  • Legal name: Rías Baixas Salnés is the named-subzone white wine; Val do Salnés is the geographical subzone.
  • Current blend: At least 70%, collectively, from one or more of Albariño, Loureira, Treixadura and Caíño Blanco.
  • Remainder: Other permitted white varieties may supply the balance; do not teach a universal 70% Albariño minimum.
  • Origin: The grapes must be grown and the wine made in this subzone.

Style & table

  • Main association: Fresh, aromatic Albariño-led whites; cool maritime conditions help frame their acidity.
  • Contrast: Compare with warmer inland Condado do Tea without assuming every bottle follows a fixed taste.
  • At the table: Consider shellfish or a fresh fish dish, then adjust for lees or oak treatment.
