Bottle formats & portions

Theoretical and usable yield

2 / 2
01
  • Without loss, 750 mL gives 6 portions of 125 mL, 5 of 150 mL or 15 of 50 mL.
  • At 175 mL, it gives 4 complete portions and 50 mL remaining.
02
  • 750 ÷ 100 = 7.5 describes seven full portions plus 50 mL, not eight full portions.
  • The remainder is not necessarily waste; its use must be defined.
03
  • For an event, calculate required volume, yield and reserve separately.
  • A checking taste, overpouring or leftovers may reduce actual yield.

Convert first; divide next; round bottle quantities up.
